KUNUWARRA (Black swan)
Kunuwarra (Black swan) collabaration Janne Kearney/Corrina Eccles
Corrina Eccels: My ochre markings represent Kunuwarra (Black swan) signifying my granddaughters totem.
The ochre markings connect me to country, while dancing ceremony, I gracefully pull my wings out and connect to Kunuwarra, I feel connected to the story through my spirit.
The painting shows my bare feet grounded to country; thus, the strength of belonging is felt deeply in my heart and spirit. The moom symbols depicted around the gathering circle represent the seated impression of young girls in the community I teach, connect and lead with dance, it’s imperative we pass on tradition through, story, song and dance.
